Houston, TX — February 12, 2018, a man sustained fatal injuries as the result of an accident where he fell off a roof at the Bush Intercontinental Airport.
Houston emergency officials reported that the accident happened at around 11:00 a.m. at the airport.
A power washing crew were nearby at the time of the accident. They told authorities that while working outside on the roof of the airport, they, “heard a loud noise.” When they went to see what happened, they found that a man had fallen roughly 10 feet onto a lower roof.
The man somehow sustained fatal injuries in the fall. Emergency service officials say he died at the scene of the accident.
The factors leading up to the accident and the identity of the victim are unclear at this time.
Map of the Area
There are a lot of mysterious circumstances which need to be clear up here. Based on the wording in these reports, it seems as though the man isn’t a part of the power washing crew, so that leaves two likely scenarios legally speaking. Either the victim was an airport employee, in which case this would likely be treated as any other fatal work accident. The other possibility is this victim was not a worker and somehow got onto the roof of the airport. If that’s the case, this would fall under Premises Liability. Whichever is the case, the laws surrounding both scenarios are very complex and will require extensive efforts to see this man’s loved ones get the resolution they need in such a trying time.
