8 Injured in Somerset, WI, Tour Bus Accident on Highway 35
Somerset, WI -- July 15, 2017, at least 8 people were injured following an accident where a tour bus crashed off of Highway 35.
According to preliminary details released by the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department, the accident occurred just after 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 35 and 200th Avenue.
Investigators reported that a Pontiac Vibe was traveling northbound on the highway when it slowed down to turn onto 200th Avenue. A GMC Envoy behind the Pontiac swerved to avoid hitting it, over corrected, and went into oncoming traffic.
This resulted in the GMC hitting the side of a Lorenz Bus Service tour bus which was carrying roughly 41 passengers. The bus lost control and overturned in a roadside ditch.
Officials say that eight passengers from the bus were taken to a hospital for treatment. Their injuries were said to be non-critical. No other injuries were reported.
Police did not say if any charges or citations were filed after the crash. Investigations are ongoing.
