Commentary
Considering the lack of information given surrounding this accident, I wouldn't be surprised if the police simply aren't too sure of what occurred. A lot of commercial vehicle accidents, even when they seem rather simple, can be very complex. Part of the reason for this is because trucking companies often work very quickly to muddle the details and influence investigations into their favor. Our firm has litigated hundreds of truck accidents over the years, and you wouldn't believe how many times the first two entities on the scene are the emergency responders and the trucking company's lawyers.
I'm not saying that this is all truck accidents, and I'm not saying that all trucking companies behave this way. However, the very fact that it's a possibility warrants victims having their own, private investigation conducted as soon as possible. Whether it's time sensitive evidence or a shady trucking company looking to tip the scales to their advantage, those affected by a truck accident must act quickly in ensuring that they get the compensation they deserve.
