Belen Martinez Killed, Joeslyn Renteriaz Hurt in Accident on IH-20 in Mitchell Co., TX

Mitchell County, TX -- A single-vehicle crash in the area of Mitchell County, Texas claimed the life of 14-year-old Belen Martinez and injured 10-year-old Joeslyn Renteriaz.

Local officials claim the incident took place on IH-20 around 8 p.m. It appears the vehicle occupied by the victims suffered a tire blowout, causing it to go into a side skid. The vehicle then went into a ditch, rolling several times.

Ms. Martinez was killed at the scene of the incident.

Ms. Renteriaz was left with serious injuries, and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The investigation into the incident is currently underway.
