6 Injured in Thomasville, NC, PART Bus Accident on MLK Jr. Drive

Thomasville, NC -- July 17, 2017, six people were injured in , following an accident in which a PART bus and an SUV collided on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Authorities reported that the incident took place just before 10:00 a.m. near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Douglas Drive.

According to preliminary details released, a Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) bus was traveling along the roadway when, for reasons still not clear, it crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic. Here it collided head-on with an SUV before running off-road.

Three people were taken from the SUV and three, including the bus driver, were from the bus. They were all taken to a local hospital for treatment of various injuries.

Police did not report any charges or citations resulting from the accident. Investigations are ongoing.
