Two Injured in Kaufman County, TX, Car Accident on FM 429

Kaufman County, TX -- July 16, 2017, two men were injured as the result of an accident where their vehicle crashed off of FM 429.

Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety were called out to the accident scene at around 6:45 a.m. They say the crash occurred at the intersection of FM 429 and FM 2727.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that two men were in a car traveling along FM 2727. At the FM 429 T-intersection, the car somehow failed to stop and went off-road. It crashed into a nearby field before coming to a stop.

The driver of the vehicle was said to have suffered serious injuries and required air transport to a nearby hospital. The passenger was taken via ground ambulance.

The exact factors contributing to the accident are still under investigation at this time.

Commentary

Reports have indicated that the car failed to stop at the intersection, but they still haven't cleared up why. A lot of people will automatically assume the driver was at fault, and in all likelihood this is the case. However, just because something is common doesn't mean it applies to every accident. There have been many instances where something other than driver error caused a vehicle to lose control. These sorts of factors tend to be subtle and don't often show up in preliminary police investigations. It's important that any accident involving serious injury is looked at by an experienced professional so that all possible factors can be considered.
