Driver, Student Hurt in Austin, TX, School Bus Accident on Stassney

Austin, TX -- July 13, 2017, a bus driver and a student were injured as the result of an accident where a school bus and an SUV crashed.

Authorities from the Austin Police Department reported that the two-vehicle accident happened at around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of East Stassney Lane and Burleson Road.

Police investigators reported that a Del Valle ISD school bus had about four students on-board at the time. In a series of events not made clear, the bus somehow crossed paths and collided with an SUV, causing the bus to run off the side of the road and hit a guardrail.

Due to the collision, reports say that the driver of the bus as well as one student sustained non-life-threatening injuries. It's unclear if they were taken to the hospital. No additional injuries were reported.

Police didn't say if any charges or citations were filed after the crash. The cause is still unclear.
