South Hutchinson, KS: Two Hurt in Accidental Ammonia Leak at Tyson Foods

South Hutchinson, KS -- A work-related incident in the area of Hutchinson, Kansas left two workers with injuries Thursday, June 8, 2017.

According to reports, the incident happened at Tyson Foods Thursday morning. It appears the two victims were injured in a leak of anhydrous ammonia. One victim was treated at the scene of the incident. A second victim was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Both victim's identities and current conditions remain unknown.

The report claims anhydrous ammonia is used as a refrigerant.

The report also claims the plant faced previous penalties for ammonia leaks between 2006 and 2010.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
