William Nickels Killed in Platte County, NE, Motorcycle Accident

Platte County, NE -- June 4, 2017, William Nickels was killed after an accident where his motorcycle somehow lost control and crashed.

Platte County Sheriff's Department officials reported that the fatal incident occurred at around 10:00 a.m. just north of the Us 81, State Highway 22 intersection, north of Columbus.

Preliminary accident summaries indicate that 31-year-old Nickels was traveling along northbound Highway 81 when, for reasons which police have not yet confirmed, lost control and went off the side of the highway. It crashed off-road, ejecting Nickels onto the ground.

Emergency services were able to transport Nickels to Columbus Community Hospital, and he was later taken via helicopter to Bryan Medical Center in critical condition. He later died there.

At this time, police have not yet determined an official cause for the accident. Their investigations are ongoing.
