Dustin Daugherty Killed in Bell County, TX, Boat Accident

Bell County, TX -- June 4, 2017, Dustin Daugherty was fatally injured after an accident where his boat somehow sank in Stillhouse Hollow Lake.

Bell County Sheriff's Deputies released information surrounding the fatal incident. They say that it occurred at around 5:00 p.m. in the lake just off of US Highway 190, southeast of Killeen.

According to investigators, 37-year-old Daugherty was in a boat with his brother on the lake. Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens report they saw the boat sinking and went out to the water. They recovered both men from the water, and Daugherty was unresponsive.

Life-saving efforts were given before Daugherty was transported to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead there. Daugherty's brother's condition was unspecified.

At this time, the cause of the accident is still unclear.
