Eric Payton Killed in Smithfield, KY, DUI Accident

Smithfield, KY -- May 24, 2017, Eric Payton was killed and Alora Davila was charged as the result of an alleged drunk driving accident.

Kentucky State Police released details surrounding the fatal accident, which they say took place at around 3:30 p.m. along Lake Jericho Road.

According to police officials, 34-year-old Payton was traveling along Lake Jericho in a passenger vehicle. In the opposite lanes, 27-year-old Davila, allegedly intoxicated at the time, crossed over the center line and crashed with Payton's vehicle head-on.

As a result of the collision, Payton was fatally injured. EMS officials pronounced him deceased at the scene. Davila was placed under arrest and charged with murder and DUI.
