2 Killed in Woodbury, NY, Single-Vehicle Accident on Smith Clove

Woodbury, NY -- May 26, 2017, two people were found dead due to an accident in which their car ran off of Smith Clove Road and crashed.

Authorities from the New York State Police reported that the emergency call came in just before 11:00 a.m. The crash site was located off the intersection of Smith Clove Road and Mineral Springs Road.

Preliminary details indicate that a silver passenger car had been traveling down the roadway some hours prior to the call. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle lost control and ran off the side of the road. It then crashed into a wooded area, where it wasn't seen until some time later.

By the time emergency services arrived, the passengers, a man and a woman both believed to be in their 20s, had died.

At this time, investigations are ongoing.
