Edward Sinnott Killed in Accident on Long Island, NY

Long Island, NY -- A work-related incident in Long Island, NY claimed the life of 59-year-old Edward Sinott Wednesday, May 24, 2017.

The incident happened at a house in Huntington around 1 p.m.

It appears the man was installing a new system when for reasons unclear a sinkhole opened around him. The hole collapsed, burying the man under nearly 15 feet of dirt. A second man was able to escape the collapsing hole.

Local officials and representatives with OSHA are currently investigating the incident to determine the cause.

The report made no mention of other injuries in the incident.

Further information may be forthcoming as the investigation ends.
