Woman Injured in Zimmerman, MN, 18-wheeler Accident on US 169

Zimmerman, MN -- May 25, 2017, an elderly woman was injured as the result of an accident where her vehicle and an 18-wheeler collided on US 169.

According to authorities from the Minnesota State Police, the incident took place in the afternoon hours of Thursday along US Highway 169.

Initial reports indicate that a 79-year-old woman was in a Maserati pulled over on the shoulder of the highway. She reportedly attempted to merge back onto the highway, and she was struck from behind by an 18-wheeler.

As a result of the collision, the woman was critically injured and transported to North Memorial Hospital for treatment. The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to North Memorial Hospital.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the factors surrounding the accident.
