3 Killed in Campo, CO, Multi-Truck Accident on Highway 287

Campo, CO -- May 24, 2017, three people were killed in , as the result of an accident where multiple 18-wheeler crashed on Highway 287.

South of Campo, near the Colorado-Oklahoma state line, the Colorado Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the accident along State Highway 287 at around 2:30 a.m.

Preliminary accident reports are still incomplete at this time. Police officials stated that there was an 18-wheeler traveling southbound on the highway. For reasons unclear, it drifted into northbound traffic and crashed head-on into an oncoming 18-wheeler. A third 18-wheeler swerved to avoid this crash, causing the vehicle to run off the side of the highway and crash through a fence.

Following the collision, emergency services were called out to the scene. They say three people were killed in the collision, but identities and which vehicles they came from were not released.

At this time, police have not released any additional details.
