David Raney Killed in Hamburg, NY, Big Rig Accident on Highland

Hamburg, NY -- May 28, 2017, David Raney was killed following an accident in which his big rig ran off the side of the highway and struck a house.

New York State Police investigators responded to the accident scene just before 8:00 p.m. to a residence located at 4377 Highland Parkway.

According to police reports, 57-year-old Raney was in an 18-wheeler traveling westbound on the New York State Thruway at the time. For reasons which are still unclear, the big rig lost control and ran off the side of the thruway. It crashed through a utility pole before continuing some distance and striking a house.

Emergency services were called out to the crash site, but they say Raney died at the scene.

Authorities have not yet determined what factors caused the accident. Investigations are ongoing.
