Jose Romero Killed in Dania Beach, FL, Gas Pump Accident

Dania Beach, FL -- May 23, 2017, Jose Romero was fatally injured following an accident where his vehicle ran off-road and crashed into a gas pump.

According to preliminary reports released by the Broward County Sheriff's Department, the fatal crash took place at around 9:30 p.m. at a BP gas station located off the intersection of South Federal Highway (US 10 and 7th Street.

Police officials reported that 18-year-old Romero was traveling along Federal Highway by himself. The vehicle somehow lost control and swerved off the side of the road. This caused the vehicle to launch into a gas pump at the station, which resulted in a large fire breaking out.

The car quickly became engulfed, and witnesses were unable to reach Romero in time. He died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Police say that the factors surrounding the accident are still under investigation at this time.
