1 Killed, 1 Injured in Byron, CA, Head-on Accident on Byron Hwy

Byron, CA -- May 22, 2017, one person was killed and another was injured due to an accident in which three vehicles collided on Byron Highway.

According to reports released by the California State Police Department, the incident happened in the evening hours of Monday near the intersection of Byron Highway and Bruns Road.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a man was driving a Pontiac along southbound Byron Highway. For reasons unclear, his vehicle swerved into northbound traffic lanes and crossed paths with an oncoming Chevy Impala. This resulted in a head-on collision. A third vehicle lost control while avoiding the crash and struck a pole off-road.

The driver of the Pontiac was killed in the accident. The driver of the Chevy was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries occurred.

The factors surrounding the accident are currently unclear. Investigations are ongoing.
