Zacherie Allen Killed in Locke, NY, Van/18-wheeler Accident

Locke, NY -- May 25, 2017, Zacherie Allen was killed as the result of an accident where a medical supply van collided with an 18-wheeler on West Hill Road.

Local police and emergency crews were called out to the accident scene at around 2:40 p.m. near the intersection of West Hill Road and Main Road.

Police investigators reported that a medical supply van was traveling along West Hill when it reportedly crossed over into oncoming traffic. Officials say that an oncoming 18-wheeler was unable to avoid the van in time, and a near head-on collision occurred.

The driver of the van, identified as Allen, was critically injured and required extrication from the vehicle. Upon extraction, EMS transported him to Cortland Regional Medical Center. Allen later died there. No additional injuries were reported.

Police have yet to determine what factors might have caused the accident. Investigations are ongoing.
