Levi Cruz Killed in Carpentersville, IL, Pedestrian Accident

Carpentersville, IL -- May 22, 2017, Levi Cruz was fatally injured as the result of an accident where a pickup collided into him.

Preliminary information has been released in regards to the fatal accident. Police say it took place at around 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Deer Creek Drive and Rosewood Drive.

Police officials were not clear on exactly where 2-year-old Cruz was in at the time of the accident--in the roadway or somewhere else nearby. Reports indicated only that a pickup driving down Deer Creek somehow lost control and ran off the side of the roadway.

At some point during this incident, the vehicle struck Cruz, critically injuring him. Responding medical workers attempted life-saving efforts, but they proved unsuccessful.

Police did not say if the driver remained at the scene. It's unclear if any charges or citations have been filed. Investigations are ongoing.
