2 Killed, 1 Injured in Moatsville, WV, Industrial Explosion Accident

Moatsville, WV -- May 24, 2017, two workers were killed and a third was injured following an accident where an explosion occurred at an industrial plant.

Emergency rescue crews were called out to the scene of the accident at around noon. The facility, Midland Resource Recovery, is located at 16144 Barbour County Highway, north of Morgantown Pike. The company reportedly works to odorize natural gas.

According to preliminary investigations, three workers were cleaning the inside of a tank using bleach. For reasons not clear, an explosion occurred in the tank. The incident critically injured and ultimately killed two of the workers. Another one was taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate.
