Man Injured in Greenville, NC, 18-wheeler Accident on US 264

Greenville, NC -- May 24, 2017, a man sustained injuries due to an accident in which his vehicle and an 18-wheeler crashed on US Highway 264.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol officials responded to the scene of the accident at around 9:30 p.m. They say that the crash took place near the intersection of US Highway 264 and Staton Road.

Preliminary reports did not specify exactly what happened in the crash. Police say that a passenger vehicle and an 18-wheeler somehow collided into each other. As a result of this collision, the driver of the car was trapped inside the vehicle.

Upon being extracted from the wreckage, the man was transported to a local hospital for treatment from serious injuries. No other injuries occurred.

The exact cause of the accident is still unclear. Investigations are ongoing.
