3 Injured in Moncks Corner, SC, School Bus/Truck Accident

Moncks Corner, SC -- May 24, 2017, three students were injured following an accident in which a truck and a school bus collided on Highway 52.

Authorities from the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred near the intersection of Highway 52 and Reid Hill Road at around 7:30 a.m.

Preliminary investigations indicated that truck was traveling along the highway when a vehicle in front of it began to slow down. The truck reportedly changed lanes to avoid it, but it collided with the front end of a Berkeley County School District bus carrying approximately 34 people.

As a result of the collision, three students had to be transported to a local hospital. Their conditions were not specified. It appears no one else was injured.

Police did not say what factors contributed to the accident nor whether or not any charges or citations were filed. Investigations are ongoing.
