Wesley Free, Robert Hicok Killed in El Paso County, CO, Accident

El Paso County, CO -- May 23, 2017, Wesley Free and Robert Hicok died as the result of an accident where their vehicles crashed head-on.

Colorado State Police investigators responded to the accident scene at around 1:45 a.m. It happened about five miles outside of Peyton along US Highway 24.

Police officials reported that 23-year-old Free was traveling down the westbound lanes of the highway when his vehicle, for reasons not clear, swerved into westbound lanes. As a result, it collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle driven by 82-year-old Hicok.

Free suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Hicok was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He later died there.

Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, but these reports have not been confirmed. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
