Officer, Driver Injured in Houston, TX, Accident at Tellepsen

Houston, TX -- May 19, 2017, an off-duty officer and another person were injured following an accident that occurred on the Gulf Freeway.

Houston Police officials released information regarding the accident, which they say occurred around 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of I-45 and Tellepsen Street.

According to police reports, an off-duty Houston Police officer was driving along the Gulf Freeway in a pickup. As he did so, his vehicle was rear-ended by a van. The van continued past the pickup onto an exit ramp and collided with another vehicle before coming to a stop.

As a result of the incident, the officer and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. The condition of the van driver was not specified.

Police did not say what the cause of the accident was. No further details are available.
