Mack Hobbs Killed, Kurt Updegraff Injured in Greene Co., AL, Accident

Greene County, AL -- May 23, 2017, Mack Hobbs was killed, Kurt Updegraff and one other were injured, after two 18-wheelers collided on the interstate.

The Alabama State Police responded to the two-vehicle accident at around 4:30 a.m. It took place between the towns of Eutaw and Knoxville along I-20/59.

Police investigators have only release preliminary details at this time, and the exact factors surrounding the crash are still unclear. It involved two 18-wheelers, one driven by 75-year-old Hobbs and another driven by 53-year-old Updegraff.

Following the collision, Hobbs succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene. Updegraff and a passenger from Hobbs's vehicle were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police continue investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
