Teen Injured in Pittsylvania County, VA, Truck Accident on Gretna

Pittsylvania County, VA -- May 19, 2017, a teenager was seriously injured following an accident in which a car and a truck collided on Gretna Road.

Investigators from the Virginia State Police reported that the accident happened at around 7:00 a.m. near the intersection of Gretna Road and Pittsville Road.

According to police officials, a 19-year-old man was traveling along Gretna Road (Highway 40) when his vehicle, for reasons not made clear, lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic. As a result, it collided head-on into an oncoming tractor-trailer.

Due to the collision, the man was seriously injured and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. No additional injuries were reported.

At this time, no official determination of what caused the crash has been given. Additional details are unavailable.
