Two Injured in Raleigh, NC, 18-wheeler Accident on Capital

Raleigh, NC -- May 21, 2017, two people sustained injuries resulting from an accident where their vehicle and an 18-wheeler crashed on Capital Boulevard.

Raleigh police investigators were called to the scene of the accident at around 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of Capital Boulevard/US Highway 401 and New Hope Church Road.

According to preliminary accident reports, two people were inside a passenger vehicle traveling along New Hope Church Road. As they crossed over highway lanes at the intersection, an 18-wheeler on Capital Boulevard somehow entered their path. The car could not stop in time and crashed into the trailer of the 18-wheeler.

The car was lodged beneath the truck, and the passengers required extraction from the vehicle before being taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

At this time, police have not released information on what caused the accident. No further information is available.
