Worker Killed in Accident at U.S. Steel Corp. in Ecorse, MI

Ecorse, MI -- A fall at a steel plant in Ecorse, MI led to the death of an unidentified worker Monday, May 22, 2017.

The incident took place at U.S. Steel Corp. around 3:30 a.m.

At the time of the report, the cause remained undetermined. It appears the victim may have been involved in a crane collapse, leading to his fall up to 20 feet.

Representatives with U.S. Steel and federal authorities were examining the details of the incident in an effort to determine the cause.

Further information, including the cause and the victim's identity, may be forthcoming as the investigation concludes.
