Ava M. Taliferro Killed, Two Hurt in Alleged DUI Accident in Decatur, IL

Decatur, IL -- A suspected DUI crash in Decatur, IL claimed the life of 17-month-old Ava M. Taliferro Monday, May 15, 2017 and left two injured.

Police say the girl was a passenger in a passenger car headed east on Lost Bridge Road around 12:22 a.m. At some point, the car crossed the center line, colliding with a pickup truck headed west on Lost Bridge.

The collision sent young Ava to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car and the driver of the pickup were left with injuries in the crash.

Police say they believe the driver of the car was intoxicated at the time of the collision.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and may reveal more details as it concludes.
