Sierra McPhillips, Sam Pontillo Injured in Coolbaugh Twp., PA, Accident

-- May 15, 2017, Sierra McPhillips and Sam Pontillo were injured after a wrong-way driver caused a multi-vehicle accident.

Monroe County authorities reported on the incident, which they say occurred at around 12:45 a.m. in the northern end of town.

Police investigators report that 32-year-old Pontillo was driving in the wrong direction on I-380. As a result of this, he crashed into several vehicles, including an 18-wheeler. 18-year-old McPhillips attempted to avoid the accident, but instead crashed into a nearby 18-wheeler.

Pontillo was seriously injured in the crash and taken to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest for treatment. McPhillips was transported to CMC Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police claim that Pontillo showed signs of intoxication after the accident, though no arrests or charges have been reported at this time.

Investigations are ongoing.
