Worker Injured in Lubbock, TX, Trench Accident near Canyon Lakes

Lubbock, TX -- May 18, 2017, a worker sustained serious injuries after an accident in the Canyon Lakes area where he fell into a trench.

Authorities from emergency responses teams reported that the accident took place at a work site just off Cesar E. Chavez Drive.

At approximately 10:09 a.m., a work crew was at a trench site. For reasons which investigators are still trying to determine, one of the workers, identity unreleased, somehow fell into the trench. He reportedly fell on his back and suffered an incapacitating injury.

Rescue crews were able to extract him from the trench some time later and transport him to University Medical Center. His exact condition was not given.

The factors surrounding the incident remain under investigation at this time.
