Miguel Penado Killed in Othello, WA, 18-wheeler Accident

Othello, WA -- May 16, 2017, Miguel Penado was fatally injured following an accident in which his 18-wheeler crashed off the side of the road.

Troopers from the Washington State Highway Patrol report that the fatal incident took place at around 2:00 p.m. along northbound State Highway 17, just south of town.

According to preliminary details released by the police, 58-year-old Penado was in the northbound lanes of WA-17 in tractor-trailer when the vehicle somehow lost control. As a result, it ran off the side of the highway where the trailer detached.

The truck went on to crash through several obstacles and eventually into a tree. The truck caught fire due to the collision, fatally injuries Penado, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police have yet to determine what caused the vehicle to lose control. Investigations are ongoing.
