Shaelynn Welch Killed in Accidental Drowning in Lubbock, TX

Lubbock, TX -- An incident at a family cook-out took the life of 4-year-old Shaelyn Welch Sunday, May 13, 2017 in the area of Lubbock, TX.

The incident took place near the 15400 block of County Road 1870.

It appears the young girl was found the pool around 2:20 p.m. Arriving responders performed CPR on the girl, transporting her to a local hospital, where she was initially listed in critical condition. However, the girl died early Monday morning.

The exact cause of the incident is yet to be determined.

The official investigation is ongoing and may reveal more details as it concludes.
