4 Injured in Springfield, MO, School Bus Accident on Highway 65

Springfield, MO -- May 11, 2017, four people sustained injuries following an accident in which a school bus crashed off of Highway 65.

Emergency crews were called out to the single-vehicle accident scene at around 1:30 p.m. at the Us Highway 65 and US Highway 60 interchange.

According to initial police investigations, a school bus was transporting about 12 students back from a field trip along southbound Highway 65. As it did so, the bus suddenly lost control while transferring onto westbound US 60. The bus swerved off-road, over-corrected, and crashed through a guardrail before coming to a stop.

Emergency services were called to the scene to render aid. Reports indicate that three students and an adult chaperone sustained non-life-threatening injuries. It's unclear if anyone was transported to a hospital.

The exact cause of the accident is not yet clear. Authorities continue their investigations.
