Man Injured in San Antonio, TX, Wheelchair/Car Accident on Gault

San Antonio, TX -- May 10, 2017, a man in a wheelchair was injured due to an accident in which he was struck by a vehicle near Gault Lane.

San Antonio Police Department officials were called out to the accident scene at about 10:20 p.m. outside the Alamo Heights Health Rehabilitation Center, just off the intersection of Gault Lane and Broadway Street.

According to preliminary details, a man said to be in his 50s was traveling across Gault in a wheelchair after leaving the Alamo Heights rehab center. As he did so, a driver failed to see him and struck him the roadway. The vehicle left the man on the road and fled the scene.

The man was taken back to the rehab center until EMS arrived. He was then transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police have not released any details about the suspect driver. Their investigations are ongoing.
