Brent Godwin Killed, W. D. Russell Injured in Fulton County, AR, Accident

Fulton County, AR -- May 6, 2017, Brent Godwin was killed and W. D. Russell was injured after an accident where their vehicles collided.

Officials from the Arkansas State Troopers reported that the incident happened at around 10:20 a.m. close to the Missouri/Arkansas border.

According to police, 56-year-old Godwin was driving a Honda southbound along Highway 63 behind a Dodge being driven by 71-year-old Russell. Reports say that Russell attempted to make a left turn off the highway as Godwin was trying to pass Russell on the left side. This resulted in a collision.

As a result of the crash, Godwin died at the scene of the accident. Russell sustained unspecified injuries, and it's unclear whether or not he was taken to a hospital.

Police did not say what factors might have contributed to the crash. Additional details are pending further investigations.
