Celeste Luney Killed, 2 Injured in Von Ormy, TX, Accident

Von Ormy, TX -- May 6, 2017, Celeste Luney was killed and two others were injured after an accident in which their vehicle crashed off the highway.

Investigating officials reported that the fatal accident occurred in the late hours of Saturday near the intersection of Loop 1604 and Mary Esther Road.

According to police, three people were in a single vehicle, one of which was 29-year-old Luney. For reasons not yet confirmed, the vehicle lost control and ran off the side of the road. This caused the car to overturn repeatedly before coming to a stop.

Luney was trapped inside the wreckage and had to be extricated by rescue crews. Officials say she died on the way to the hospital. The male driver and a third passenger were both transported to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.

Police say the accident might have been caused due to an altercation inside the vehicle. They also said the driver was arrested under suspicion of intoxicated driving.
