Enrique Manning Killed in Elizabeth, NJ, Pedestrian Accident

Elizabeth, NJ -- April 28, 2017, Enrique Manning suffered fatal injuries following an accident in which he was struck by an 18-wheeler.

Authorities from the Elizabeth Police Department responded to the accident scene at around 10:40 a.m. just north of the Bayway Circle.

Preliminary police reports say that 54-year-old Manning was walking along Route 1/9 at the time. At some point, his path and that of an oncoming 18-wheeler crossed. As a result, he was struck in the roadway and suffered critical injuries.

Authorities say that Manning died at the scene of the accident. No other injuries occurred.

It's not currently clear if Manning was along the side of the highway or attempting to cross it. Investigations are currently ongoing.
