Jerry Brown Killed in Greenup County, KY, Train Accident

Greenup County, KY -- April 28, 2017, Jerry Brown was killed as the result of an accident in which his vehicle collided with a train.

Authorities from the Greenup County Police released preliminary information regarding the crash. They say it happened on a CS Rail Line off the intersection of Wurtland Avenue and Riverside Drive.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. 74-year-old Brown was driving a truck along Wurtland when he attempted to make a turn onto Riverside Drive. In crossing the tracks, his vehicle crossed paths with an oncoming Amtrak train. This resulted in a collision which severely damaged the truck.

Officials came to the scene to find that Brown had succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene. Of the roughly 73 passengers on the train, no injuries were reported.

Police have not indicated what factors may have contributed to this accident. Their investigations are ongoing.
