1 Injured in Cape Girardeau, MO, Truck Accident on Shawnee Pkwy

Cape Girardeau, MO -- May 2, 2017, one person sustained injuries following an accident in which a pickup and a box truck crashed on Shawnee Parkway.

According to reports released by the Cape Girardeau Police Department, the two-vehicle accident took place Tuesday afternoon off the intersection of Shawnee Parkway and I-55.

Preliminary police reports indicate that a man was driving a Toyota Tundra pickup along I-55 with a passenger on-board. The pickup went along the transfer ramp onto westbound Shawnee Parkway, and it somehow crossed paths with an Isuzu box truck. This resulted in a collision which caused significant damage to the front passenger side of the pickup.

Following the collision, rescue crews were able to extract the pickup driver and transport him to a nearby hospital. Reports say his injuries were not life-threatening. The conditions of the passenger and the driver of the box truck were not specified.
