Woman, Child Injured in New Castle, PA, Truck Accident on Liberty

New Castle, PA -- April 28, 2017, a woman and her child were injured following an accident in which their vehicle crashed with a truck on Liberty Street.

According to preliminary information released by the New Castle Police Department, the incident occurred at the intersection of Liberty Street and Miller Road around 8:00 a.m.

Police officials reported that a woman was driving along Liberty in a car with her 4-year-old daughter as a passenger in the backseat. As they traveled, the car somehow crossed paths with an oncoming box truck. Neither vehicle avoided the accident in time, resulting in a head-on collision.

Both the woman and the child had to be extricated from the vehicle. They were then taken to a nearby hospital via helicopter. Injuries were said to be serious. The truck driver was not injured.

Police did not report any charges or citations resulting from the accident. They say investigations are ongoing.
