6 Injured in Terrell, TX, Head-on Accident on Highway 80

-- April 28, 2017, six people sustained injuries in Terrell, TX, as the result of an accident where a car crashed head-on into traffic on Highway 80.

According to preliminary details released by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred at about 8:45 p.m. near the US Highway 80 and Spur 557 interchange.

Initial details have indicated that a Honda was traveling westbound along US 80 with five occupants. For reasons which have not yet been determined, the vehicle lost control and ran over the median of the highway. As a result, it crossed paths with two oncoming cars and crashed into them.

Following the collision, EMS came to the scene to render aid. At least two of the six injured were in critical condition and transported to hospital via helicopter. The other four had injuries considered non-life-threatening and were taken via ground ambulance.

At this time, the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. No further information is currently available.
