Dakota Gaas Killed in Polk County, TX, Rollover Accident

Polk County, TX -- April 28, 2017, Dakota Gaas suffered fatal injuries due to an accident in which her vehicle overturned off the roadway.

The Texas Department of Public Safety released preliminary details regarding the accident, which they say occurred around 1:20 p.m. near the town of Segno.

According to police investigators, 19-year-old Gaas was driving a Chevy pickup along FM 943. As she did so, the vehicle somehow lost control and swerved off the side of the roadway. It crashed into a ditch, swerved back onto the road, and overturned repeatedly.

Gaas was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Emergency services say she was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. No additional injuries occurred.

No particular factors contributing to the accident have been reported. Investigations are ongoing.
