6 Injured in Capron, VA, Bus Accident on Southampton Parkway

Capron, VA -- March 15, 2017, five students and a driver were injured due to an accident where a pickup and a school bus crashed on Southampton Parkway.

Authorities from the Southampton County Sheriff's Department were called to investigate the accident scene at around 3:30 p.m. The crash occurred near the intersection of Southampton Parkway and Medicine Springs Road.

According to their preliminary reports, a school bus was transporting several students down the parkway. For reasons that have yet to be determined, the school bus was struck from behind by a pickup.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the pickup was taken to a nearby hospital for unspecified but serious injuries. Five students on the bus sustained minor injuries and were taken to Southampton Memorial Hospital.

No charges or citations were reported following the crash. Additional details are currently unavailable.
