Daniel Baerga Killed in East Hartford, CT, Snowplow Accident

East Hartford, CT -- March 14, 2017, Daniel Baerga was killed after an accident in which he was struck by a snowplow while walking.

East Hartford emergency services were called to the scene outside of the Willow Arms Apartments, located at 446 Main Street. The incident happened around 3:10 p.m. during a heavy snowstorm.

As 83-year-old Baerga was walking outside the apartment complex, he somehow crossed paths with an oncoming snowplow. The driver failed to see the man, and the vehicle ran into him. Due to the collision, Baerga suffered fatal injuries.

It's unclear whether or not the truck had backup alarms or other proper warning signals. OSHA and other authorities continue to investigate the incident.
