John Paul Merritt Killed in Pokagon, MI Train Accident

Pokagon, MI -- A train related incident in Pokagon, MI claimed the life of 46-year-old John Paul Merritt Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

Local police officials say Mr. Merritt was near the train tracks when he was struck by a Norfolk Southern train around 1:28 p.m. Mr. Merritt was killed at the scene of the incident. The incident happened about a half mile south of the Pokagon Highway. It is unclear at this time what caused the incident.

The official investigation into the incident is currently underway.

Further information may become known as the investigation concludes.
