One Injured in Lorena, TX, 18-wheeler Accident on I-35

-- March 16, 2017, a driver sustained injuries in Lorena, TX, as the result of an accident where their vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler on I-35.

According to preliminary reports released by emergency officials, the accident happened just south of town near the intersection of I-35 and Callan Ranch Road.

Their investigations indicated that an SUV was traveling along southbound I-35 when it came upon an 18-wheeler also traveling south. For reasons that aren't clear, the SUV did not slow down in time, and it crashed into the rear-end of the semi-trailer. The SUV sustained heavy damage, and it caught fire.

Bystanders were able to free the driver from the burning vehicle, and emergency crews soon arrived to put out the flames. Emergency services transported the driver to a nearby hospital via ambulance. Their injuries weren't specified.

The exact cause of the accident is still unclear. Authorities continue their investigations.
