Teen Killed, Dustin Harmon, Carol Shearon, 2 Kids Injured in Craighead Co., AR, Accident

Craighead County, AR -- March 15, 2017, a teenager was killed, Dustin Harmon, Carol Shearon, and two children were injured following a car accident.

Preliminary investigations from the Arkansas State Police indicate that the accident occurred around 4:34 p.m. south of Sedgwick.

According to the accident summary, 18-year-old Harmon was driving a Chevrolet southbound along US Highway 63 with an unidentified 15-year-old passenger. In the opposite lanes was a Ford driven by 67-year-old Shearon. In her vehicle were two boys, ages 6 and 3.

The two vehicles somehow crossed paths on the highway and crashed head-on into each other. As a result of the collision, Harmon's passenger suffered fatal injuries. It's unclear if that person died at the scene or later on. The other four injured people were transported to St. Bernard's and Lebonheur Hospitals with unspecified injuries.

At this time, police have not indicated what factors might have contributed to the accident. Their investigations are ongoing.
