12 Injured in Chicago, IL, Bus Accident on Dan Ryan Expressway

Chicago, IL -- March 13, 2017, at least twelve people were injured after an accident in which a bus and a truck crashed on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

Chicago Police and other emergency crews were called to the crash site at around 10:45 a.m. The collision happened close to the intersection of the expressway and 64th Street.

According to preliminary police investigations, a city bus was traveling down the expressway when it somehow crashed into the back of a dump truck. As a result of the collision, several passengers sustained injuries.

After completing rescue efforts, at least 12 people were transported to a local hospital with injuries said to be non-life-threatening. It's unclear if either driver was one of these people.

Authorities did not report any citations following the crash. They say weather conditions were a factor in the crash.
